![]() About The ORC is a new program that will benchmark the current performance of existing schools, provide a report card of results and make suggestions for improvement. The CHPS Operations Report Card program will advance the standard for the maintenance, operation, and improvement of all school buildings – high performance and otherwise. These assessments take place in five categories: energy efficiency, thermal comfort, visual comfort, indoor air quality, and acoustics. The ORC is an interactive online tool. While designed for district-wide deployment over multiple school sites, it will also be useful to single public schools, charter schools and private schools. The ORC provides schools with a simple, understandable score to communicate where their school currently stands on the spectrum of high-performance. These scores are created in the five categories that CHPS has identified as most essential to high performance schools: energy efficiency, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, acoustics, and visual comfort. Schools will complete several steps as they work through the ORC program, including data-gathering through facilities measurements and occupant surveys. After entering all of the requested information, the school will be provided with its Report Card. This summary document will provide the school with the numeric score it has achieved in each category, along with brief comments about why that is the case. In addition to the Report Card, each school will receive a customized list of suggested improvements based on their site information. Because of the unique nature of the ORC, it will be useful to schools at all levels of performance. In fact, CHPS anticipates that it will be most helpful to schools currently at lower levels of performance that are seeking to improve. It is important to note that there are no minimum requirements to participate. Scores are simply a benchmark of current performance. Cost The ORC is priced aggressively to minimize the financial impact on schools. All of the measurements needed to complete the ORC can be taken by existing school or district staff -- no outside consultants are needed! The cost to utilize the ORC varies by the number of schools registered. See the table below for the current fee structure.
As an example, if a district registered five schools, the cost would be 2x$900 + 2x$700 + $500 = $3700. Registration In order for you to register for the Operations Report Card, CHPS must first confirm that you have the necessary privileges at your district or independent school in order to commit to the program.
