CHPS: High Performance Relocatable Classrooms and Sustainable Products Database
Thursday, 10/15/2009, 1 PM - 4 PM
Location: San Diego Energy Resource Center, 8690 Balboa Ave.,Ste. 100, San Diego, CA 92123
The Relocatable Program springs from recent updates to the existing Relocatable Classroom Best Practices Manual volume and Building Specifications, and the release of the 2009 CA-CHPS Criteria. This new rating program helps relocatable classroom manufacturers incorporate energy efficient, high performance strategies into their designs and makes these strategies more accessible to schools that seek higher performing portables. Strategies for retrofitting existing portable classrooms will also be included.
In addition, CHPS will introduce their Sustainable Products database. Developed in partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency, CHPS new products database will help school districts and design teams find products that contribute to the materials and indoor environmental quality credits of the CHPS Criteria. The database will include products that have been third-party certified and undergone life cycle impact assessment, making procurement of these products simpler and more efficient.
