Recognition Programs

CHPS provides several different assessment tools for high performance school projects. Projects using those assessment tools can be recognized as achieving high performance status. For new construction, new buildings and major modernizations, CHPS provides two recognition programs: CHPS Designed and CHPS Verified.

CHPS Verified and CHPS Verified Leader

CHPS Verified provides an independent review of projects using the CHPS Criteria to assess their high performance status. Projects that meet minimum certification receive a CHPS plaque. CHPS Verified Leader provides a second, higher level of recognition for school projects that preform well beyond minimum eligibility requirements.

CHPS Designed

CHPS Designed is a self-certification process. CHPS Designed projects receive a certificate and use of the CHPS Designed logo.

Eligibility for Recognition

New schools, new buildings and major modernization/renovation projects can register for CHPS Verified and CHPS Designed. A major modernization/renovation is defined as a project in which at least four of the major building systems are replaced or upgraded. To see if CHPS Verified or CHPS Designed is available in your state see the table below. School projects in the Northeast (Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut), New York and Washington can register their projects with their local CHPS Partner.
