The Green Apple Awards are presented by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) to recognize notable leaders of high performance school building each year. The Green Apple Awards are distributed to outstanding school districts, design teams, individuals, organizations and industry leaders for their contributions to the green school movement.

This year's Green Apple Award winners will be honored at the 2008 Greentools for Healthy Schools Conference in Sacramento, CA on September 11 & 12, 2008.

“Because of the commitment of these dedicated leaders to high performance schools, school children across the country are attending healthier, more environmentally friendly schools,” said Charles Eley, executive director of CHPS. “CHPS is proud to honor the award winners and to continue to work with them in the future to build a new generation of green schools.”

Awards will be given out for leadership in three categories that correspond to the theme of this year's Greentools conference: climate change and high performance schools; high performance school policy and existing schools.
