Dear CHPS Community Member:

As a valued member of the CHPS community, you deserve the best resources possible to design, build and operate high performance schools. In this special edition of CHPS E-bulletin, you'll learn about the host of innovative tools and trainings offered at Greentools 2008 that will help you with your next high performance project. Remember, early discounts on registration end on July 25, 2008 so register today!

Greentools 2008 is proud to offer the following:

  • 2008 Keynote Speaker: Greg Kats, green schools expert - In 2006, Greg Kats authored a study widely credited with providing impetus for schools around the country to go green. "Greening America's Schools: Costs and Benefits" demonstrated that high performance schools are a cost-effective way to improve test scores by enhancing student health and reduce schools' impact on the environment, while bringing financial benefits twenty times as great as initial cost. CHPS is excited to welcome Mr. Kats at this year's keynote speaker at Greentools for Healthy Schools. Mr. Kats will discuss his previous work about high performance school facilities, as well as to unveil his new study, "Greening Buildings and Communities: Costs and Benefits", slated for release in the fall of 2008. • Full conference scholarships and FREE design charrettes for school districts - The Greentools team is thrilled to be able to offer full conference scholarships and a free design charrette to qualifying school districts. School districts who qualify can bring up to five members of their design team, facilities staff or school board to participate. The scholarships include the workshops and trainings on Day 1 of the conference, and then, on Day 2, a professionally-moderated design charrette to implement CHPS Best Practices into a school project, district maintenance or operations, or district policy. • A tour of one of the newest schools built to the CHPS Criteria - Day 2 of Greentools 2008 will feature a tour of the H. Allen Hight Learning Center, outside of Sacramento, CA. Led by the design team and district officials, Greentools attendees will get an up-close and personal look at how to successfully create a high performance school.
