    H. Allen Hight Learning Center CHPS School Tour
    September 12, 2008
One of the CHPS schools to open its doors, the H. Allen Hight Learning Center is impressive in both scale and innovation. The combined 88,000 sq. ft. middle school and 70,000 sq. ft. elementary school is built to serve students in Sacramento, CA. The facilities include a multi-purpose room, cafeteria and gymnasium, all built to the CHPS high performance criteria. Join us, as well as members of the design team and district officials, as the Natomas Unified School District hosts Day II of Greentools 2008 at H. Allen Hight for a comprehensive, informative tour of the school, followed by design charrettes for participating school districts. During the tour, school tour guides involved in the project conception and construction will walk attendees through their CHPS Scorecard, how they achieved their points, and lessons learned along the way.

“The Natomas Unified School District is proud to welcome Greentools for Schools to our newest school, H. Allan Hight School," said Natomas School Board President Ron Dwyer-Voss. "While all of our schools have been built or retrofitted to reduce energy consumption and maximize the use of the natural environment for learning, HAH is very special to us because it holds two schools – a middle school and an elementary. When opened this Fall, HAH will not only function as a ‘green building’, but as a learning tool for the next generation of decision makers. Combined with the long term financial benefits of building schools this way and HAH is a winner for the environment, the students and staff, and the taxpayers.”
