High Performance Relocatables Grant Program

School districts: Get a high performance relocatable for the same price as a regular relocatable!

CHPS is offering $5000 grants to relocatable manufacturers to encourage the production of high performance relocatables. School districts can be matched with these manufacturers to purchase a high performance relocatable for no additional cost. In addition, manufacturers will be able to defray some of the cost of the manufacturing premiums for producing a high performance relocatable. The goal of this program is to encourage the construction and purchasing of high performance relocatable classrooms. With the publication of CHPS Best Practices Manual Volume VI - Relocatable Classrooms, which includes specifications for a high performance relocatable, the school construction market now has the opportunity to see high performance relocatables in action.

High performance relocatable classroom specifications

This grant program consists of providing grants to relocatable classroom manufacturers so that they can construct a high performance relocatable at a lower cost, and then be able to pass on those savings to consumer school districts. As part of the program, the manufacturer agrees to sell the relocatable to a school district at the cost of an average relocatable. School districts are thus provided with a high performance relocatable at no extra cost. Relocatable manufacturers may apply for and receive two grants of $5000 from CHPS. Single school districts may purchase no more than two of the grant-awarded high performance relocatables through this program.

Do I have to have a school district lined up to purchase my relocatable to apply for the grant?

For relocatable manufacturers:

1. You must be a relocatable manufacturer.
2. You must be a DSA approved classroom provider.
3. You must provide matching funds for the grant - this can include providing in-kind or labor donations or a match from an outside provider.
4. You must provide information on the average price of conventional relocatables for the last 12 months and you must agree to sell the high performance relocatable for no more than 5% higher than the 12-month average to the school district.
5. You must have a school district willing to purchase the relocatable or be matched to a school district that contacts CHPS.
6. You must agree to have the specifications reviewed prior to construction, the relocatable inspected once built and to fill out an evaluation on the process of including the high performance specs.

For school districts:

• You must be purchasing a relocatable classroom.

For relocatable manufacturers:

1. Carefully review eligibility requirements. Confirm that you are able or willing to comply with all requirements.
2. Review CHPS Best Practice Manual Volume IV – Relocatable Classrooms.
3. Download, fill out and send in a grant application.
4. You will be notified within two weeks of the status of your application.
